Making your own candles can be fun and a hobby if you really get into it. It can also save you some money if you tend to buy lots of candles all the time.
Step 1 - Cleaning
You should be aware that making candles is quite messy and the wax will get every. So we suggest you use newspapers or use a room where you don't getting wax on the floor.
Step 2 - What You Need
You need a huge pot, a mould (a bottle without the top perhaps), wax at least 2 kg and wicks. You can try your local hardware store for them.
Step 3 - Preparing Your Wax
Wax usually comes in huge blocks so place your block of wax on top of your sauce pan or pot, and let the heat soften up the wax you don't want to melt the wax just yet. Cut the block in square chucks then place back in your pot to melt.
Step 4 - Additives
You can add colour to your wax. You can use crayons as it works best. Then place any other scent you like. You can buy scents from the candle store or cooking ingredients scents.
Step 5 - The Wick
Put your wick into the wax and then remove and let it dry. Make sure your wick is straight.
Step 6 - Moulding Wax
You will need to get a mould so you can pour your wax in. Once you have the wax in your mould, place it in your fridge. Check often and once it is firm take it out and use a toothpick to poke a hole in the middle, the insides should be soft still. Place the wick till it touches the bottom. Use wax and melt it over the sides of the wick to seal it into the candle. Place back in the fridge until it's fully hardened. And you that's it!
