How To Make Your Own Storage Box

If you have the time then making your own storage box can be quite fun and more personalised for your own use. Depending on what you need it for you can make them in various sizes.

Here's What You'll Need

• Self Capping Screens (6mm) ¨C You need 16 screws per storage box
• Medium Density Fibreboard (MDF ¨C 300mm x 300mm)
• 90 degree clamp (optional if you already have on)
• A drill (Cordless or electric)
• PVA (Wood Glue)
• Wood Lacquer (Clear)
• Select An Acrylic Paint Colour of Your Choice

Assembling The Storage Box

1. Make a L shape using two 300mm x 300m MDF boards. Place them at 90 degree angles and clamp together if you have a 90 degree clamp. Drill 2 holes at the edge of one board. Repeat on the other board so they are opposite each other.
2. Repeat on the other side till you have a U shape box.
3. You should now have a U Shape box without the base.
4. Cut the base to 264mm x 264mm. Apply strong quality woodworking glue (PVA) on the edges of the base panel (4 sides). Align your U shape box to your base and secure them tight while the glue dries. Can take an hour or more.
5. You now have a storage box, all you need to do is paint it with whatever colour you like. You can even use wallpaper to give it a nice texture of finish.
