The tie bar/ tie clip is very popular among most necktie wearers but it only become popular during the 1920s. It was the new popular neckwear accessory that replaced the tie pin. Tie clips / bars are usually made from metal and most people wear them to commemorate an event or occasion.

How to Wear Tie Clips

You can't ignore the fact that tie clips are highly useful. But it can be a little difficult to shop for one. So here are a few pointers on how to wear a tie bar.

1. Use colours to show off your tie. Wear a blue or purple business shirt to emphasise your tie in doing so you will show off the fact that you are wearing a tie clip
2. How wide is your tie clip? Your tie clip should always be around 3/4 of the width of your tie. This will ensure that you look stylish because your tie bar should not be too noticeable.
3. Where should you position the tie bar? Tie clip should be around the 4th or 5th button on your business shirt. You want to prevent your tie from flapping in the wind and or dipping into your soup dish.
4. Am I over accessorised? If you intend to use the pocket square, then you should not wear a tie clip. That would be over the top. So pick one and stick with it.
5. Should my tie clip have a chin attached? Absolutely no! That is too old school and would make you look like a grandfather. Just stick to the basics because simple looks best.
