History of The USB Flash Drive

IBM and Trek Technology were the first to start selling these USB flash drives commercially back in 2000. Together they created the brand ¡°ThumbDrive¡± and sold them as a product called ¡°DiskOnKey.¡± It only came with 8 MB of storage which is hardly anything by today's standards.

There were many other forms of USB flash drives, take for example the ¡®compact flash' (CF) which was created in 2000 by Lexar. The USB Flash Drive was patient by Trek Technology and Netac Technology however many companies still manufactured USB drivers regardless of the patient.

Second Generation USB Flash Drives

Today's modern flash drives use the new USB 2.0 standards which can use Hi-Speed connectivity that allows the transfer of information at high speeds. Today's USB Flash Drives are also larger with around 32 GB and 64 GB drives.
